The Real Face Of The War
Welcome to GEARN project "The Real Face Of The War". There is a description of project:
Name of Project: "The Real Face Of The War".
Brief one-sentence description of project: Participants of the project will discuss one or some wars which happened in XX, XXI centuries: I world war, II world war, Vietnam war, Apxazeti war and recent conflict between Georgia and Russia.
Full description of project: Participants of the project will hold a historical research of the war and will be able to answer the next questions:
• When this war occurred?
• What was the reason of this war?
• Which states were introductoried in this war?
• Was possible or not to get rid of this war?
• What can we inter from the history of these wars, what can we do to inculcate peace in the world?
• Participants will make vizualisation of the war with drawing, perfomances and with photo-collages.
Will listen to musical compositions of the war theme. (e.g. folk and other songs “ pink floyd” – “the final cut”, “Shavlego” , etc...)Will watch belles-letters and documentary movies about war (e.g. Belles-letters: “Soldier’s Father”, “Boys of Laugh”, “Walking in karabakh”….. Documentary films: “Invisible war”, “Hunting on Hitler’s scientists” and so on….) After this they will broadcast their impressions with different forms (essay, picture, overlay)
Also they will discuss masterpieces of great painters on the war’s plural subjects .
They will read and discuss about prose work (e.g. Tolstoy, hemingwey, Remark, Asatiani, Nishnianidze)
Take an interview from the people who took part in the II world war, in Apkhazia, in Iraq.
They will create brochure. They will put down the proclamation on the http://www.petition.ge/ (e.g. no war…stop Russia….)Underline http://www.panoramio.com/ the states territories which time of different wars were taking part in military actions.
Age/level of project participants:8-17Timetable: from october 2008
Possible project/classroom activities: Pictures, essay, search photo and video material, interviews, discuss performances, discuss films, to listen musical plays, discuss e.g. about the theme “war and ecology”, “war and religion”, military patriotic games, in schoolteam writing about topic “real face of war”.
Expected outcomes/products: III, IV, V classes - pictures, essay, slideshow, performanceVI,VII classes – essay, photos, video-films, presentation, performanceVIII-XII classes – essay, performance, site, blog, el. Magazine, brochure, petition.For all school: team work on the topic “ Real Face of War”.
Project contribution to others and the planet: team work on the topic “ Real Face of War”By these activities it will be able to show the real face of war by different sides, the pupils’ attitude toward war will be clear , militarism, nationalism…All this will develop the sense of tolerance between children. They will learn to use dialogue instead of war.
